The third Cagliari International Rotary Team Racing regatta was won by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda for the second time, beating Royal Thames Yacht Club in the final after three days of spectacular sailing.

Teams raced in the heart of the city in front of the Luna Rosa America’s Cup base and within touching distance of the Italian Navy. As always the teams had three days of 30+ degrees and 10 knots of cooling breeze to race in. The round robins series pitted the eventual finalists against the Royal Yacht Squadron, Gamla Stan Yacht Club and hosts Canottieri Ichnusa Cagliari. At the end RTYC were narrowly leading, but in the finals YCCS wrapped the final up in two races after a particularly close second race. Gamla Stan also defeated RYS in two races to secure third place.

The sailing was only part of a fantastic weekend, with once again wonderful evening entertainment which showcased the picturesque city and its surroundings as well as the finest local cuisine.

The 2K circuit returns in three weeks with another Italian event in Formia which once again promises reliable wind and sun.
