In classic Cowes conditions, perfect breeze, warm sunshine in a clear blue sky, the Royal Thames veterans Russell Peters and Marshall King sailing as Team Peters showed brilliant form by winning the very first 2k event to be run at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

Team Peters completed the event with only one loss, and that not surprisingly decided on the finish line. Leading 1-2 at the final mark Peters and Marshall looked set for an easy win. Double covering effectively Old Waynfletes got back into the race; A tricky call saw Peters and Guy Dixon ( Old Waynfletes) both penalised, but with combinations  unchanged the pressure moved to their team mates to decide the race. A tiny error, is it not always thus?… and that was that, the rookies beat the masters.

Sadly racing on Sunday had to be abandoned as the breeze moved towards 25 knots.
