The 2K season came to a splendid conclusion with the Berlin Cup held over the weekend of 27-29 October. Hosted by the Potsdamer Yacht Club, racing was in J70s kindly supplied for the event by local clubs and the Heinz Nixdorf Association.

With a full roster of 7 teams from Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, we were set for a great event.

In difficult conditions the Race Officer managed to give tight racing across all three days. At the end of stage 1 the leaders were DMTRA and Bayerisher Yacht Club, with Oxford and Cambridge tied for 3rd with the Heizkörper Sailing Team.

The final sailed in good racing conditions, showed the Dutch at their best, giving them the Berlin Cup.

Possibly the most exciting race however was between Mengelmoes and Heizkörper. Both team ended up way below the pin end of the finish line and the battle was now to finish from the wrong direction. The Rule Book was never designed for this… and so in the end it was penalties that allowed Mengelmos to gain the most contested of race.
