Australian 2K Championship 2024

Blessed with two days of perfect Autumn weather the Australian 2K Championship was conducted on the River Derwent, Hobart, by The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania on 20 & 21 April. Six teams representing Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron, Derwent Sailing Squadron, Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club (2 teams) and Yachting ACT raced a double round robin in sunny but light conditions. The RYCT’s fleet of six Elliott 6s was ideal in the light winds.

At the end of the second round robin four teams were tied on three losses, giving the Race Committee something of a headache to break that many ties. In the end, points scored in races between the four teams were used to decide the order of teams.

Sorrento SCBC 1 was the victor, with the Derwent Sailing Squadron in second, Sorrento SCBC 2 in third and Blairgowrie YS fourth.
