2K Medemblik

Racing Day 1 of the Medemblik 2K took place in a westerly 10-12 knots and flat water. with a number of new teams and old faces in different line-ups the scene was set for some great team racing. Right of the 2 minute signal of the first race, the boats engaged in pre-start jousting and it was intense boat on boat action right through the day. Indeed it was only somewhere after race 10 that a team leading round the 1st mark managed to stay ahead around the leeward mark. The complete deletion of Rule 17 certainly kept the umpires on their toes, and there were a number of windward leeward calls coming out of mark 3 that wouldn’t have happen without this experimental rule change

Stand-out performance of the day was the young team of ARTMD, more regularly seen sailing 29ers they were not overawed by racing against experienced adult teams and finished the day on one loss. Royal Thames, Royal thames also lost one race to Rainbow Dragons, and will have to prove they can perform with a headache, as tonight is the night out in Amsterdam!  DMTRA & YC Costa Olanda were the other teams without many drops

All to play for on day two, that is of course provided everyone makes there on time for the 09:30 1st Start.
